Grade 1 is studying about communities in their Social Studies unit. The Grade 1 Teachers, Mrs. Berit and Mrs. Melody, invited Ms. Dobson, a former CCC/CMIS Teacher and Principal to come talk with the classes about what CMIS was like in the past. To begin her talk with the students, she showed them a single bead that represented one year.
She then showed them a string of beads and asked them to guess how many beads / years old the school was – the answer is, of course 60!
Ms. Dobson began teaching Grade 4 at our school in 1967. In those days, Grade 4 was in a corner room of what is now our Preschool building. Later, when she was Principal, she welcomed Mrs. Berit to the teaching staff. That year, Mrs. Berit taught Kindergarten!
Mrs. Berit was a teacher when Mrs. Melody joined the school, and in fact, Mrs. Berit was Mrs. Melody’s Grade 3 teacher! See if you can find them in the picture below:
