Flu Vaccinations available in Oct/Nov 2014

Dear Parents,

McCormick Hospital will be offering Flu vaccinations for students and/or family members in October/November 2014

Flu vaccination is recommended for anyone over the age of 6 months but it is especially important for some people to get vaccinated. Those people include the following:

  • People at high risk of developing serious complications like pneumonia if they get sick with flu. This includes:

    • People who have certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes and chronic lung disease.

    • Pregnant woman

    • People over 65 years of age

  • People who live with or care for others who are at high risk of developing serious complications. This includes:

    • Household contacts and caregivers of people with certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes and chronic lung disease.

Groups who should not have the flu vaccination include:

  • People who have ever had a severe allergic reaction to eggs (anaphylaxis).

  • People who have ever had a severe allergic reaction to influenza vaccine.

  • People with a history of Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

  • People who are moderately or severely ill with or without fever should usually wait until they recover before getting the flu vaccine.

The cost of the flu vaccine will be approximately 550 Baht per person. If you are interested in having a flu vaccine please come to the Health Office to register your details.

 

The confirmed date for the vaccinations will be posted on the school website and on the health board outside the Health Office.
